Calgary Fire Department fights roof fire at North East warehouse

Shortly before 10:00 last night the Calgary Fire Department responded to the 3900 Block of 29 Street NE for a reported building fire.  Upon arrival, crews found a large warehouse with smoke and flames visible on the roof.  Due to the size of the building and the amount of visible flame, a second alarm was immediately called.  Firefighters raised the aerial ladder and climbed to the roof to attack the fire.  The fire was quickly knocked down and the building was searched for occupants.  Thankfully, no one was there at the time of the fire.  Some smoke penetrated the interior of the building but it was ventilated by fire crews.  The fire was contained mainly to roofing material which was being used for repairs.  The roof sustained minor damage.  The building has been cleared to resume normal business operations.  No injuries were reported.  The cause of the fire is under investigation. Traffic in the area is unaffected at this time.
