Calgary Fire Department fights house fire in the NW.

At approximately 8:20 PM the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) responded to multiple calls for a house fire in the 4700 block of Nipawin Cr NW.

Responding crews called a working fire prior to arriving based on the amount of visible smoke and arrived at a single story, single family dwelling heavily involved in smoke and fire. Fire crews started an aggressive attack on the fire while ensuring all residents were out of the structure. It was quickly determined that the three residents had safely self evacuated prior to CFD arrival.

The fire was extinguished and crews continue to work on salvage and overhaul efforts to ensure there is no further spread of fire or further damage to the home. The family will be displaced from the home for near future. Fire watch will be in place throughout the night.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) are on scene although there have been no reported injuries. Calgary Police Services (CPS) are also on scene to assist with traffic and scene safety.Enmax and ATCO are on scene to control the flow of utilities.

The Calgary Fire Department fire investigator will be working to determine the cause and origin of the fire.The Calgary Fire Department would like to remind citizens that have photos, video or information regarding this fire, especially prior to CFD arrival on scene, please email piofire@calgary.ca
