Calgary Fire Department fights house fire in Bridgeland

Crews respond to two alarm house fire in Bridgeland

Shortly after 1:00 am, the Calgary Fire Department responded to the 200 block of 8 St. NE following reports of a house fire.

Upon arrival, crews found a single family two-story home involved in flames and heavy smoke. Crews immediately began an exterior attack to knock down the flames while  preparing  to enter the structure. A search of the home was conducted and no occupants or pets were found, the lone occupant of the home self evacuated safely. Three occupants from a neighboring home have also been evacuated. A second alarm was called to supply more resources to help with difficult fire conditions and the cold temperatures.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the fire, however damage to the home is extensive. Fire investigators are on scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire.

The occupant of the home was alerted to the fire by a smoke alarm, The Calgary Fire Department would like to see smoke alarms installed, maintained and regularly tested in every home.
