Calgary Fire Department fights blaze in SW fourplex

At approximately 12:40 this afternoon, Calgary fire crews responded to a fire on Galbraith Drive SW. Initial reports to 911 were of smoke and flames visible on the balcony of one of the units of a fourplex. Firefighters worked fast to limit damage to the suite of origin and quickly had the fire under control. Two residents who were sleeping inside, were alerted to the fire by an Enmax employee who was passing by. Fire and smoke damage to the unit were moderate and a total of three residents are temporarily displaced. A Calgary Fire Department Fire Investigator was on scene and has determined the fire as non suspicious and accidental in nature originating on the balcony. No injuries were reported as a result of this fire.
