Calgary Fire Department fights attic fire in Bowness

At approximately 1:45 this morning the Calgary Fire Department responded to the 5200 block of 20th Ave NW for reports of a house fire.  Arriving crews found a single story home with smoke and flames venting from the soffits.  Firefighters immediately entered the structure to search for the fire and any potential occupants.  Thankfully, two men, who were home at the time of the fire, smelled smoke and safely self evacuated.  Working from the inside of the home, Firefighters pulled down the ceiling and quickly knocked down a well established attic fire.  The home suffered significant smoke and fire damage and will be uninhabitable until major repairs have been completed. There were no reports of injury.  Fire Investigators are on scene.  Traffic in the area is unaffected at this time.
