Calgary Fire Department fights 2 alarm fire at carpet store

Early this morning at approximately 3:00, Calgary fire crews were called to a carpet store at the 1300 block of 11th Avenue S.W. for a building fire. On arrival, firefighters saw smoke coming from an enclosed garage which is used to store dumpsters. A second alarm was called for additional resources. Fire crews cut open an overhead door to gain entry into the building to extinguish the fire. The fire originated in one of the dumpsters and is currently under control. Firefighters are checking for extension in the ceiling and surrounding area of the garage and a Calgary Fire Investigator has been called to the scene to investigate the cause. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
