Calgary Fire Department extricates man trapped under semi on Barlow Trail S.E.

This afternoon, just after 2:00, the Calgary Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle collision in which a crew cab truck collided with a parked semi trailer at Barlow Trail and 72nd Avenue S.E. The passenger was significantly trapped due to the distance the front of truck traveled under the rear of the semi. Firefighters used extrication tools from the Heavy Rescue to remove the male patient. Care of the passenger was transferred to EMS who transported him to an area hospital. The driver of the truck was not transported to hospital and the driver of the semi was not injured. Calgary Police Service officers are on scene investigating and northbound traffic at 71st Avenue and Barlow Trail is restricted.
