Calgary Fire Department extinguishes house fire in the community of White horn

At approximately 10:00 pm this evening, the Calgary Fire Department was dispatched to Whiteridge Place NE. for reports of a house fire. The first arriving crews encountered a bungalow style house with a fully involved deck and rear of the home. A second alarm was called which increases both the number of apparatus and Fire fighters on scene. Although the fire had entered the house the majority of the damage was contained to the rear of the home. There were two people in the house at the time of the fire, they had self rescued prior to the Fire Department arriving. The family cat was initially reported missing, but was quickly located by Fire fighters who then administered oxygen as a precaution. There were neither injuries nor damage to the adjacent homes. Crews remain on scene over hauling the house looking for possible extension and hot spots. As a reminder, if your family pet is trapped inside your home, tell fire fighters right away. Never re-enter a burning building.
