Calgary Fire Department extinguishes garage fire on Elgin Meadows CL SE

At approximately 6:30 this evening the Calgary Fire Department was dispatched for a garage fire on Elgin Meadows Cl SE. The first arriving crews encountered a fully involved detached garage. The fire was contained to the garage of origin by utilizing the onboard water carried on the Engine in the booster tank. Whilst this was occurring supply lines were attached to a nearby hydrant which then provided sufficient water to begin a more aggressive attack on the garage. The fire was quickly brought under control and then extinguished. There was a small amount of heat damage to an adjacent garage and house. As a precaution there was a controlled evacuation of the neighbouring houses. There were no injuries and all the evacuees have since been allowed back into their homes. Crews remain on scene over hauling the garage looking for hot spots. The investigation into the cause will commence once the scene is turned over to Investigator.
