Calgary Fire Department Extinguishes Early Morning House Fire

Calgary Fire crews extinguished a house fire in the 1500 block of Prestwick Boulevard earlier today. The call came in shortly after 02:30 this morning and first arriving crews reported smoke and flame visible on the second floor of a two story single family residence. Crews were able to quickly bring the fire under control and account for all occupants. Three adults and five children were home at the time and all had exited the home prior to Calgary Fires arrival.  One adult male was transported to an area hospital in non life threatening condition. The two remaining adults and five children ranging in age from one to seven years did not receive any injuries. Fire investigators are on scene at this time and are in the preliminary portion of their investigation. Local traffic was temporarily  impacted and has since returned to normal and will not affect the morning commute. Calgarians are urged to have working smoke alarms in every sleeping room, outside each sleeping area  and on every level of the home. Working smoke alarms save lives, cutting the risk of dying in a home fire in half. There were no working smoke alarms in this home.
