Calgary Fire Department extinguishes condo kitchen fire in NW

 

 

 

At approximately 10:30 this morning the Calgary Fire Department was called to the 700 block of 1St Ave NW for reports of a building fire.  On arrival, the firefighters found a 3 story condo building with smoke showing on the second floor.  Fire crews immediately evacuated the structure and commenced a search for the fire.  A fire was located on the second floor of the building and confined to the kitchen of a single suite.  The occupant of the affected suite, a 28 year old male, self evacuated prior to the fire department’s arrival and was treated by EMS for minor injuries. In total, 16 suites were evacuated and checked by fire crews.  All but the suite of origin have since been reoccupied.  Fire investigators are on scene.  At this time there in no estimate of damage.  Traffic in the area is currently unaffected.
