Calgary Fire Department extinguishes attic fire in Elbow Drive home

At approximately 5:30 this afternoon the Calgary Fire Department was called to the 7300 block of Elbow Drive SW for reports of a building fire. Arriving firefighters found a single family residence with light smoke venting from the eves. Fire crews entered the home and searched the attic, finding a well involved fire. Crews quickly knocked down the fire, while searching the home for occupants. Firefighters later discovered that only a single resident was home at the time of the fire. The man, in his 30s, safely evacuated prior to CFDs arrival. No injuries were reported. The home suffered moderate damage and it is unlikely that the tenant we be able to reoccupy the home until repairs have been completed. Fire investigators are on scene.  At this time there in no estimate of damage.  Traffic in the area is currently unaffected.
