Calgary Fire Department extinguishes an early morning townhouse fire

At 0300 this morning the Calgary Fire Department was dispatched to a possible building fire on Lincoln Way SW. The first arriving crew encountered a row of four connected town houses with the second unit having a large volume of smoke and flames coming from the main floor. Initial updates indicated that there was a child trapped on the second floor, it was quickly confirmed that all of occupants of the town house were accounted for.

Due to the potential fire spread a second alarm was called which increases the total number of Fire fighters responding to this call. The fire was extinguished with no extension into any of the adjacent homes. As a precaution, the downwind units where temporally evacuated because of the drifting smoke. The occupants of those units have since been allowed back into their homes.

There were no injuries and the investigation into the cause will commence once the fire is considered out. Crews remain on scene checking for hot spots.
