Calgary Fire Department Evacuates Homes In Ramsey Due To Damaged Gas Line

At approximately 3:30 this afternoon, the Calgary Fire Department responded to the 1100 block of 8th Street S.E. for reports of a damaged natural gas line. Upon arrival, fire crews secured the area and immediately commenced an evacuation as a precaution. Atco Gas responded to shut off gas flow to the damaged line and CPS assisted Calgary Fire in restricting traffic to the affected area. Calgary Transit supplied a bus to temporarily shelter the approximately 25 evacuees. Gas to the affected line has now been shut off and people are being allowed back into their homes. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
