Calgary Fire Department evacuates businesses due to damaged gas line

At approximately 1:30 this afternoon, Calgary fire crews were called to the southwest neighbourhood of Cougar Ridge for multiple odour complaints from residents in the area. Upon investigation, it was discovered that a natural gas line had been damaged at a construction site near 89th Street and Old Banff Coach Road S.W. Approximately a dozen people were evacuated from a gas station and business near that location. ATCO Gas quickly arrived on scene to shut down the gas line. Firefighters continually monitored the air and as a result, no residents needed to be evacuated from their homes. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
