Calgary Fire Department evacuates 40 people due to damaged gas line in SE

At approximately 9:30 this morning, the Calgary Fire Department responded to a damaged gas line at the 5800 block of 9th Street S.E. Three buildings in the area were evacuated as a precaution resulting in the temporary displacement of approximately 40 employees from several businesses. Fire crews continue to monitor gas levels in nearby buildings. No injuries have been reported as a result of this incident and ATCO Gas is on scene to shut down the gas line and start repairs. This may take several hours. Traffic to 9th Street SE is closed however traffic on 58th Avenue SE is unaffected.
