Calgary Fire Department evacuates 36 condo units due to damaged gas line

At approximately 11:30 this morning, construction crews at a condominium building on Hemlock Crescent S.W. called 911 to report a damaged gas line in the building. Fire crews evacuated 36 units on arrival. Workers had successfully turned off the main gas line to the building prior to CFD arrival. Firefighters went floor by floor initiating ventilation and monitoring the air. ATCO Gas was on scene to assist and no injuries were reported as a result of this incident. Residents are being allowed back in as it has now been deemed safe to do so.
