Calgary Fire Department douses pallet fire in the South East

At approximately 8:15 this evening the Calgary Fire Department was called to the 4600 block of Blackfoot Trail SE for reports of a structure fire.  Arriving crews found a single story commercial building with visible smoke rising from the north side of the structure.  Upon further investigation, firefighters discovered numerous burning pallets of automobile parts adjacent to the building. Flames from the pallets were rapidly spreading and impinging on the structure.  The fire was quickly knocked down and the building was searched for occupants.  Thankfully, no one was there at the time of the fire.  The interior of the building was subjected to minor smoke penetration, but was ventilated by fire crews and will be cleared to resume normal business operations tomorrow. The exterior of the building sustained minor damage.  No injuries were reported.  The cause of the fire is under investigation. Traffic in the area is unaffected at this time.
