Calgary Fire Department Crews Respond To Unusual Event

This evening, shortly after 7:00, the Calgary Fire Department responded to what originally was received as a report of an explosion at the 100 block of Doverthorn Bay S.E. As the two occupants of the single family bungalow investigated, they discovered a hole in their ceiling and fragments of ice on their basement stairs. It appeared that a block of ice had found its way through the roof and then ceiling of the home, coming to rest on the basement floor.

Fire Department crews suspect that a piece of ice had become dislodged from a plane passing overhead, subsequently landing on the home. Fortunately, there were no injuries as a result of this strange and unique occurrence. The investigation into the cause is ongoing.
