Calgary Fire Department Crews Respond To Two Alarm Structure Fire in Sherwood

At just after midnight this morning, Calgary Fire Department (CFD) crews responded to reports of a structure fire in the 100 block of Sherwood Crescent NW. A second alarm was immediately called to ensure adequate resources on scene.

Upon arrival, fire crews faced a fully involved 2-story residential home with flames threatening neighboring exposure homes. Firefighters quickly initiated an aggressive exterior attack with apparatus deck guns and hand lines. Two water towers were also set up to assist in fire attack. Three homes suffered significant damage and fire extension.

Residents from affected homes self-evacuated prior to CFD’s arrival. The residents will be displaced from their homes for an undetermined amount of time.

CPS assisted and provided traffic and crowd control at scene as well as assisting with evacuations. Atco and Enmax were dispatched and ensured there were no hazards relating to services. AHS attended as well but there were no injuries reported.

Fire crews including a fire investigator will remain on scene to ensure there is no fire extension and to confirm extinguishment.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
