Calgary Fire Department Crews Respond To Two Alarm Structure Fire in Panorama

At approximately 5:30 am this morning, Calgary Fire Department (CFD) crews responded to reports of a structure fire in the 100 block of Panamount Street NW. A second alarm was immediately called to ensure adequate resources on scene.

Upon arrival, fire crews faced significant smoke and flame from the roof of a 2 story residential home. Firefighters quickly initiated an aggressive interior offensive attack and search. Two water towers were also set up to assist in fire attack. Damage and fire extension was limited to the one structure.

Five residents self-evacuated prior to CFD’s arrival. One dog was accounted for and is in the care of its family. One person was transported to hospital by AHS with unknown injuries. The residents will be displaced from the home for an undetermined amount of time.

CPS assisted and provided traffic and crowd control at scene. Atco and Enmax were dispatched and ensured there were no hazards relating to services.

Fire crews including a fire investigator will remain on scene to ensure there is no fire extension and to confirm extinguishment.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
