Calgary Fire Department Crews Respond To Two Alarm Structure Fire in Nolan Hill

At approximately 4 am this morning, Calgary Fire Department (CFD) crews responded to reports of a structure fire in the 100 block of Nolanfield Lane NW. A second alarm was immediately called to ensure adequate resources on scene.

Upon arrival, fire crews faced significant smoke and flame from a 2 story residential home. Firefighters quickly initiated an exterior fire attack with hand lines. One water tower was also set up in the alley to assist in fire attack. Two homes suffered significant damage and two additional exposure homes experienced minor damage.

There were no reports of any residents living in the source home. All neighboring homes’ occupants either self-evacuated or evacuated with the assistance of CPS on scene. The residents from one of the adjacent exposures will be displaced from their home for an undetermined amount of time. No injuries were reported.

CPS also provided traffic and crowd control at scene. Atco and Enmax were dispatched and ensured there were no hazards relating to services.

Fire crews including a fire investigator will remain on scene to ensure there is no fire extension and to confirm extinguishment.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
