Calgary Fire Department Crews Respond To Mobile Home Fire In Penbrooke

At approximately 745 pm this evening, Calgary Fire Department (CFD) crews responded to reports of a structure fire at Penbrooke Heritage Estates.

Upon arrival, fire crews faced significant smoke and flame from a single family mobile home. Firefighters quickly extended hand lines to control the fire initially from the exterior as well as to protect neighboring exposures. Crews advanced lines into the interior of the structure to initiate a search and continue fire attack.

Two residents self-evacuated prior to CFD’s arrival. One cat was rescued from the interior and is in the care of Animal Services.

CPS assisted and provided traffic and crowd control at scene. Atco and Enmax were dispatched and ensured there were no hazards relating to services. AHS attended the incident and assessed, treated, and transported the 2 residents to hospital in stable condition with exposure smoke inhalation.

Fire crews including a fire investigator will remain on scene throughout the evening to ensure there is no fire extension and to confirm extinguishment.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
