Calgary Fire Department Crews Respond To Grass Fire Along 37 St SW

At approximately 7 pm, the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) responded to a grass fire west of 37 St SW between 66 Avenue and 54 Avenue SW.

Upon arrival, crews set up a defensive position along the west side of 37 St to prevent the fire from impacting residences located on the east side of 37 St. Crews from both Tsuu T’ina Nation and CFD quickly extinguished the flames.

Due to the large volume of smoke caused by the grass fire, CPS initiated the evacuation of a number of homes. All of the evacuees have now returned to their residences.

There were no injuries.

Citizens are reminded that even though we have had a late spring, current conditions are extremely dry.
