Calgary Fire Department Investigates a Diesel Fuel Spill

This morning at approximately 07:30, the Calgary Fire Department responded to reports of a fuel spill in the 5000 block of 13 street SE. Upon arrival crews discovered the accidental release of 250 Litres of diesel fuel that had found its way into the storm sewer. The Calgary Fire Department would like  to thank on scene staff for quickly deploying containment material of their own prior to our arrival slowing the spread of the release. Crews isolated the initial spill and with the assistance of the Hazardous Materials Team and The City of Calgary Water Services, contained the material to a catch system where crews are now removing the remainder of the material. The cause of the spill is currently under investigation.
