Calgary Fire Department battles two separate house fires at the same time.

Earlier this evening, the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) was dispatched to two separate house fires that occurred only 30 minutes apart. At approximately 0130 this morning fire crews were dispatched to a mobile home park on Blackfoot Trail and Southland Dr. SE. Upon arrival, fire crews were met by the occupants of the home, who had self rescued. Flames were visible coming from the kitchen window. The fire was quickly brought under control and no damage to adjacent homes occurred. Whilst this event was still unfolding, the CFD received reports of a second house fire on 26 Ave NE in the community of Rundle. To ensure that the Incident Commander had sufficient resources to fight this fire, a second alarm was sounded. When crews arrived they were faced with an abandoned house with flames coming through the roof. The fire was brought under control and numerous searches of the house confirmed that it was vacant. There were no injuries at either fire and fire crews will remain on scene checking for hot spots and providing fire watch. Fire investigators are on scene to determine the origin and cause of both fires.
