Calgary Fire Department battles two alarm building fire

Shortly after 2:30 am the  Calgary Fire Department responded to reports of a building fire in the 6000 block of 5th Street SE. When crews arrived they found heavy smoke coming from the corner buisness of a 10 unit commercial strip mall. A second alarm was called due to the volume of heavy smoke coming from the building. Crews set up hose streams and also removed smoke from the building to get the fire under control. The fire was contained to the source building which was an auto repair shop. Damage to the roof of the auto repair shop was extensive and city safety codes officers were called to ensure the building was structurally safe. No reports of injuries to occupants or firefighters were reported. The fire remains under investigation and crews are on scene to deal with hot spots.
