Calgary Fire Department battles house fire in the community of Arbour Lake NW

At approximately 7:30 this evening the Calgary Fire Department responded to reports of a house fire on Arbour Stone Cl NW. Due to the large volume of visible flames, a second alarm was struck by the responding Station; a second alarm doubles the amount of responding apparatus. Upon arrival it was discovered that the house on fire was in fact abandoned and was not only boarded up but also had a security fence in place. The fire fighters quickly gained access and began fighting the fire utilizing large volume hoses and an Aerial water tower. The fire was contained to the house of origin with no fire damage to the adjacent houses. There were no injuries and since the house was abandoned no one was displaced. A fire watch will remain on scene for the remainder of the night checking for hot spots. The investigation into the cause of the fire will commence in the morning.
