Calgary Fire Department battles grass fire on Nose Hill

Shortly before noon today the Calgary Fire Department was called to Nose Hill Park for a reported grass fire.  Arriving crews encountered significant smoke and a rapidly spreading fire at the south end of the park. Additional resources were called as on-scene crews attacked the fire.  Fire crews managed to bring the fire under control while battling smoke, extremely dry grass, and gusting wind conditions.  Crews remained on scene until 4:00 pm extinguishing hot spots and wetting down the perimeter.  Approximately 10 acres of grass was burned.  There were no reported injuries.  The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.  The park is currently open to the public.
