Calgary Fire Department Asks Parents To Warn Kids About Dangers of Venturing Out On Ice

There have been several recent reports regarding kids on or near ice at the Glenmore Reservoir. The Calgary Fire Department would like to emphasize to citizens the dangers of venturing out on or near ice. Calgarians are asked to stay off of all ice. Please, keep a good distance from banks and lake shores. Make a point of cautioning your children about the dangers of ice and the dangerous temperature of the water. As spring continues, and the temperatures climb, the ice will become more and more unpredictable.  Don’t take the chance.

 

- Keep a safe distance from banks and lake shores;

- If you witness an ice accident, stay back and call 9-1-1 for help;

- Keep pets away from ice. If you pet does venture onto the ice and falls through, call 9-1-1. Do not attempt to rescue your pet yourself;

- If you see someone on the ice, call 9-1-1.
