Calgary Fire Department Aquatic Rescue Team Prevent Drowning

 

At approximately 2:45 this afternoon, 911 received a call that there was a woman in her forties standing on the ice underneath the Langevin Bridge. The Calgary Fire Department Aqautics Rescue Team quickly deployed three inflatable boats and carefully approached the woman. Calgary Firefighters worked well together with Calgary Police Officers in a coordinated effort to bring her to safety.  No physical injuries were reported from the ice rescue. It is unclear how or why the woman was on the ice. The Calgary Fire Department wishes to remind people of the dangers of walking on the ice. Please avoid going onto any ice which is not designated and maintained for recreational purposes.
