Calgary Fire Crews Respond To Structure Fire In Mayland Heights

At approximately 4 am this morning, Calgary Fire Department (CFD) crews responded to reports of a structure fire in the 800 block of McNeill Road NE.

Upon arrival, fire crews faced significant smoke and visible flame from the front door and balcony of a private residence which was unoccupied. Firefighters quickly extended hand lines to control the main body of the fire as well as to protect neighboring exposures. The fire was controlled and contained quickly by crews.

Impacted residents self-evacuated from neighboring suites before CFD’s arrival. Atco and Enmax were dispatched and ensured there were no hazards relating to services. AHS attended the incident but no injuries to civilians or emergency workers were reported. CPS controlled traffic at the scene and were assisting a CFD investigator with the investigation.

Fire crews will remain on scene throughout the morning to ensure there is no fire extension and to confirm extinguishment.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
