Calgary Fire Crews Respond To Quonset Fire in NE

At approximately 3:45 pm Tuesday afternoon August 20th, Calgary fire crews responded to a structure fire at the 7600 block of 36th St NE. There were multiple calls to 911 regarding the incident and the amount of smoke that could be seen from a distance. The structure was confirmed to be a quonset with one vehicle inside and various commercial storage items.

A second alarm was initially struck by responding crews due to the heavy black smoke but was quickly cancelled soon after arrival of the first crews.

Upon arrival, crews quickly set up defensive exterior attack lines to extinguish the flames. CPS assisted with scene safety and traffic control, shutting down a portion of northbound and southbound 36th St.

There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident and the fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished.

A fire investigator remains on scene, the cause remains undetermined at this time.
