Calgary Fire Crews respond to Hockey Stick Blaze in the SW

At about 3 this morning, Calgary Fire crews responded to the 300 block of Sackville Dr SW for reports of a building fire. Fire crews were met by a family of 4 standing outside of the building involved. On investigation, it was discovered that a pile of hockey sticks stacked beside the attached garage had caught fire and spread to the outside of the structure. As the fire was caught early, there was minimal damage to the outside of the garage and none to the residence. The fire was discovered by a family member who was returning home in the early hours of the morning. Fire crews carefully checked over the single story, single family residence and determined that it was safe for the family to reoccupy. Cause of the fire is under investigation, and there were no injuries reported at this “only in Canada” incident.
