Calgary Fire Crews Respond to Garage Fire in Silverado

Calgary Fire Crews Respond to Garage Fire in Silverado

At approximately 2:00 PM this afternoon the Calgary Fire Department was called to the 300 block of Silverado Plains Close SW. Crews observed a large volume of smoke while responding to the address and declared a working fire while enroute to the call. Upon arrival, crews were met with a fully involved detached garage with flames that had already extended to two additional garages on each side of the source structure. Crews quickly secured water supplies and extinguished the flames to limit the extent of the damage. The intense heat and flames caused significant exterior damage to each of the homes on the lots of those three garages. Across the alleyway, three homes were observed with damage to the siding from the intensity of the flames. One home will not be able to be reoccupied tonight and will be reassessed at a later time. There were no reports of injuries at this incident. Crews remain on scene to extinguish hot spots. The fire investigator is also on scene but the cause has not been determined.
