Calgary fire crews respond to early morning fire in Dover

At approximately 6:30 Wednesday morning, Calgary fire crews responded to a home at the 3400 block of 34A Avenue S.E. for a structure fire. Multiple callers  to 9-1-1 reported seeing flames and smoke coming from the single family home. When fire crews arrived, they started an aggressive interior attack but had to evacuate the building once the structure was compromised. Firefighters then concentrated efforts on fighting the fire from the exterior and the roof. Fire crews did this by cutting an opening in the roof to access fire which had spread to the attic.

Nobody was home at the time of the fire and no injuries have been reported. Fire crews remain on scene putting out hot spots and performing salvage and overhaul. A fire investigator is at the scene to determine the exact origin and cause of this fire.
