Calgary Fire Crews Respond to Canyon Meadows Garage Fire

At approximately 5:30 this afternoon, Calgary fire crews responded to the 12,000 block of Canfield Rd., Southwest, to reports of a detached garage fire. Crews arrived to discover a fire burning between a detached garage and fence, extending into the interior of the garage. The fire was quickly contained and extinguished by Calgary fire fighters. There were no vehicles in the Garage at the time of the fire. A male in his 50s was treated by fire fighters for minor burns and patient care was handed over to a waiting EMS Crew. The man explained to firefighters that he had recently cleaned out his fire pit of embers and placed the embers in a box between the fence and garage. However, the cause of the fire is yet to be determined as it is under investigation.
