Calgary Fire Crews respond to a Garage Fire in Abbeydale

At approximately 6:30 this evening, the Calgary Fire Department responded to reports of a garage fire in the 1000 block of Abbeydale Drive NE. Crews arrived to find smoke coming from a detached double garage. Although no one was home at the time, fire fighters rapidly gained inside access to the structure and limited fire damage to one of several motorcycles stored in the garage. A neighbour called 911 when they noticed the smoke coming from the building, the neighbour then called the home owner and advised him of the situation. The homeowner returned shortly after the phone call, thanked crews for their quick response and for minimising the damage to other contents of the garage. There were no injuries reported at this incident, cause of the fire is under investigation.
