Calgary Fire Crews respond to a Flood Call in the SW

At approximately 2 this morning, Calgary Fire crews responded to reports of a large volume of water coming from beneath a garage in the 6300 block of Crowchild Trail SW. Crews arrived to discover that a water main had ruptured below a garage and there was a significant flow of water threatening several homes. Crews worked at channelling the water flow into the back alley and down the lane, assuring that it made its way into the storm sewer. Sump pumps were used to drain water out of window wells before it had a chance to enter the basements. Several homes were checked for water damage and only a minimal amount of water found its way into a basement. The water service to several homes was interrupted. There were no injuries at this incident and no damage estimate is available at this time.
