Calgary Fire Crews respond to a Building Flood in the NE

Calgary Fire crews responded to the 1300 block of Regal Crescent NE to reports of large amounts of water entering a residence. Fire crews arrived to find that a water main had ruptured under the front lawn of a single family home estimated to be about 60 years old. Crews immediately redirected water away from residences and into the storm sewer system. The primary residence had waist deep water in the basement that necessitated crews shut down gas to the home as the furnace was under water. City waterworks shut down the water supply affecting approximately 40 homes on the street. A temporary water supply will be put in place servicing the affected houses while repairs are under way. The affected home will not be reoccupied until restoration crews can restore the heating system. Cause of the break is as yet unknown. There were no injuries at this incident.
