Calgary fire crews fight two alarm house fire in Coventry Hills

At approximately 10:30 this morning, Calgary 9-1-1 received multiple calls regarding a house fire at the 12800 block of Coventry Hills Way N.E.

When fire crews arrived on scene, one two story house was fully involved with fire spreading to a neighbouring home. The incident commander upgraded the response to a second alarm for additional resources.

Searches of the houses found no people inside. No injuries as a result of this fire were reported.

Four homes were affected. Three were extensively damaged and one sustained some exterior heat damage to the vinyl siding.

Two residential gas lines were also damaged prompting the evacuation of 20 homes. Residents were allowed back in once gas lines were shut off by ATCO Gas and fire crews deemed the homes safe.

Traffic in the area will be affected for some time while fire crews continue to extinguish hot spots.
