Calgary fire crews fight two alarm fire in the city's south east

At 2:45 this afternoon, Calgary firefighters were called to a two alarm blaze at the 2200 block of 41 Street S.E. Two occupants, home at the time, smelled smoke but could not find the source of the smell. They continued to search and did find a fire outside and above their front door area in the eves. They immediately evacuated and called 911.

When fire crews arrived they could see flames and smoke coming from the roof of the house. Firefighters worked hard to quickly contain the fire. Using saws to cut holes in the roof, crews searched for extension in the attic. The fire was brought under control and firefighters are currently performing salvage and overhaul in the home.

No injuries were reported as a result of this fire however four residents are temporarily displaced. A Calgary Fire investigator is on scene to determine the origin and cause of this fire. Traffic on 41st Street between 21st and 22nd Avenue is still affected.
