Calgary fire crews fight two alarm fire in Taradale

At approximately 10:45 this morning, 9-1-1 received multiple calls regarding a house on fire located on Tara Cove Way N.E. When fire crews left the station to respond, they could see a large plume of dark smoke and immediately called a second alarm for additional resources.

On arrival, firefighters found a single family residence fully involved with fire. After an aggressive exterior attack and protecting exposures, fire crews quickly brought the blaze under control. The house of origin sustained significant damage with some partial collapse. One neighbouring home had minor heat damage to the vinyl siding.

Due to structural concerns, fire crews were unable to do a search of the interior of the home however it is believed that the family that lives there was away during the start of the fire. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire. A Calgary Fire Department fire investigator is on scene to determine the origin and cause.

If anybody has information, photos or video of the fire, especially prior to fire department arrival on scene, please email the Public Information Officer at  piofire@calgary.ca
