Calgary fire crews fight two alarm fire in Coral Springs

At approximately 3:00 this afternoon, Calgary fire crews were called to the 200 block of Coral Springs Mews N.E. for reports of a house fire. A resident on the street called 9-1-1 when smoke was seen coming from windows on the second floor of the home. The caller also banged on the door and rang the doorbell to alert any possible occupants.

Upon arrival of fire crews, significant smoke was seen coming from the second level of the residence and thus the incident was upgraded to a second alarm for additional resources. Firefighters quickly got the fire under control and therefore limited fire damage to the house of origin.

Two pet birds did succumb to smoke and unfortunately perished in the fire. There was nobody home at the time of the fire and homeowners did arrive on scene as firefighters were fighting the fire. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians reported at the scene.

Fire investigators are at the incident to determine the exact origin and cause of the fire.
