Calgary fire crews fight kitchen fire in Temple

Shortly after 3:00 this afternoon, Calgary fire crews were called to the 7000 block of Temple Drive N.E. for reports of a kitchen fire. A woman and her two young children, were home at the time and safely evacuated prior to Calgary Fire Department arrival. Firefighters found a fire which appeared to have originated on the stove top and extended into the cabinets. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire and checked for extension in the walls and ceiling. The homeowner was alerted to the fire by her working smoke alarm and after returning to the kitchen and discovering the fire, put a lid on her pot and left the residence with her children. Damage is limited to the stove and cabinets in the kitchen. A Calgary Fire Investigator is on scene.
