Calgary fire crews fight fully involved house fire on Fairmount Drive SE

 

 

 

At approximately 12:50 this afternoon, 911 received calls regarding a fully involved house fire at the 8200 block of Fairmount Drive SE. A man in his mid forties was seen going back into the house repeatedly. On CFD arrival, fire was already venting through the living room window and the main floor of the home was fully involved. Initially, firefighters attacked the fire from the outside, however after getting control of the fire, crews were able to go inside to search for any additional occupants. Three cats were removed from the home, however only one was found alive and was treated with oxygen on site, then transported to an animal hospital. The male occupant of the home sustained burns to is upper body and was transported to hospital by AHS. Damage to the main floor of the home is extensive. There were no other injuries reported and fire investigators are on scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire. It is not known if there were working smoke alarms in the home.
