Calgary fire crews extinguish garage fire in south east

At approximately 8:40 this morning, 911 received a call reporting flames coming from a garage and shed on 11th avenue south east. Fire crews could see black smoke from the distance while en route to the fire. On arrival, firefighters encountered a fully involved garage and shed. The fire was quickly contained to the buildings of origin with no damage to neighbouring structures. Two residents of the property were at home sleeping at the time of the fire and needed to be woken up and evacuated by fire crews. No injuries were reported as a result of this fire. The garage and shed sustained significant damage as did the vehicle inside. A Calgary fire investigator is on scene to determine the origin and cause.
