Calgary fire crews extinguish early morning fire in Haysboro

Calgary Fire crews were called to the 100 block of Havenhurst Crescent S.W. shortly after 2:00 A.M. this morning for reports of a house fire. First arriving crews reported "smoke showing" from the single family dwelling and immediately began  ventilating the structure with large volume fans and simultaneously searching for occupants and the source of the smoke. There were three occupants home at the time of the fire ,one woman and two men, and all had safely egressed the building prior to arrival of Calgary Fire crews. The fire was quickly brought under control.and confined to the room of origin.  Damage is moderate, but unfortunately the occupants will not be able to return to their home until repairs can be made. The occupants were alerted to the fire when one of the residents returned home as there were no working smoke alarms in the home at the time of the fire.Traffic is not being impacted at this time and fire investigators are on scene conducting a preliminary investigation into origin and cause.

Calgarians are reminded of the importance of working smoke alarms in homes, as early detection and the audible alarm greatly decreases the chance of injury and death from fire.
