Calgary Fire Department Responds to Multiple House Fires

At approximately 1240 this afternoon, the Calgary Fire Department responded to a reported house fire on Fallingworth Bay NE. On arrival fire crews were met with smoke and flames coming from the roof of a single story home. Crews quickly brought the fire under control with an aggressive interior attack of the fire. The home was unoccupied at the time of the incident. A second home suffered damage to the siding from the heat of the fire.

Fifteen minutes after this fire another 911 came in for a house fire in the 500 block of 9A Street NE. Arriving crews were met with smoke coming from the basement of the home. The fire was contained to the kitchen area of the basement suite.

AHS and CPS crews along with Enmax and ATCO attended both scenes for support.

Firefighters, including a Fire Investigator remain at both scenes to ensure there is no fire extension and to determine the cause and origin of the fires.

The Calgary Fire Department reminds all citizens of the importance of working smoke and CO alarms.
