Apartment Fire on Waverley Drive SW.

Firefighters responded to a call for an apartment fire on the 5300 block of Waverley Drive SW. just before 11:00 pm Monday night. Crews arrived on scene to be met by several residents that had evacuated the building. Firefighters were initially told that the fire was out, but as they investigated it was quickly notice that was not the case. The fire attack team confined the fire to a single bedroom in the basement of the building. Smoke was present throughout the building that was cleared to allow residents to return to their suites. A woman that occupied the suite where the fire was found was not home at the time of the fire but was located soon after. The occupant has made alternate arrangements for accommodation. A bus from Calgary transit was used to keep the evacuated residents warm until they were allowed to return to their suites. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is now under investigation.
